WALKTHROUGH, AS TEXT
FICTIONAL ORDERThe trial walkthrough, as text
This is the video on the self-guided trial page, shot by shot: when each shot starts and ends, its caption word for word, and what is on screen. The video runs 86.5 seconds. It has no sound; its captions are part of the picture.
It follows the demonstration order that comes with the tool. The team, the coach and every player are invented. Every app screen in it was taken from the tool as it runs in a browser, with purchasing not open. Shots 17 to 19 show the trial copy's saved files: two pages rendered from its PDFs, and its CSV opened as plain text. Shot 20 is an end card. Steps that happen between shots are said where they happen.
- 0:00–0:03.5 A coach’s roster file, opened in the tool. Nothing is built yet.
The tool’s “Open a roster” screen for the demonstration order’s file, Meteors U12 jersey order.csv: what it read (Windows-1252 text, comma separated, 35 rows), a note that nothing has been built from it yet, and the first rows of the file. - 0:03.5–0:07.5 Two columns could be the number, so it doesn’t choose one.
The last rows of the file as written, the header row (4), and “Which column is which?”: Name and the others carry a suggestion with its reason; Number reads “Choose a column” and “Not chosen for you: two columns could be the number: A “#” and C “No.””. - 0:07.5–0:10.5 You choose: the number is column C, “No.”
The same fields after the shop picks “C · No.” for Number, which now reads “You chose: two columns could be the number”. - 0:10.5–0:15 35 rows accounted for. 14 questions: 11 for the customer, 3 for you.
The desk after the columns are confirmed: “35 rows: 3 above the header, 1 header, 29 lines, 1 blank, 1 totals row held aside”, and Needs attention: “14 open: 11 need the customer, 3 you can settle.” The header reads NOT READY · 14 open. - 0:15–0:20 Was the 3 typed as 03? It asks rather than adding the zero.
A question card: “Is the number for JAYDEN BROOKS 3, or was it typed 03?”, row 7 as written, why it asks (the other numbers have two digits), and the buttons “Use 03” and “Keep 3 as written”, neither selected. - 0:20–0:24 The 11 questions for the customer go out in one review file.
The Approval screen. The shop has settled its own 3 questions (not shown), so the header reads 11 open: the button “Make the review file with 11 questions” and the place to open the customer’s answer. - 0:24–0:28 The customer opens it in a browser: questions only they can answer.
The review file as the customer opens it: “Please answer the questions about this order”, a note that nothing has been corrected for them, and the first of 11 questions only the customer can answer. - 0:28–0:32 They answer, add a note, and make a reply for the shop.
The foot of the review file: “10 of 11 questions answered”, the customer’s name (Dana Whitlock), her note “Maëlle is 16, not 22.” and the button “Finish: make my answer for the shop”. - 0:32–0:36.5 At the shop, her answers are listed. Nothing changes until applied.
The shop’s Approval screen after it opens the customer’s answer: “THE CUSTOMER SENT ANSWERS. Dana Whitlock sent 10 answers. Nothing changes until you apply them”, each question beside her answer. - 0:36.5–0:40.5 Version ED94-9C2F goes back to the customer as proofs.
Between the last shot and this one (not shown), the shop applies her answers and records the coach’s note (Maëlle is 16, not 22) as the answer to the last question, which makes version ED94-9C2F. Then a second review file, for that version (its state in the header: SHOP CHECK ONLY · NOT APPROVED BY THE CUSTOMER): proofs for Mateo García 08, Chloe O’Neil 15 and JAYDEN BROOKS 3, each with its name, number, size and quantity. - 0:40.5–0:45 The customer approves that exact version, by its code.
The foot of that review file: the customer’s name and the button “I approve version ED94-9C2F exactly as shown: 27 people, 28 garments.” - 0:45–0:49 The shop sees it: ED94-9C2F · CUSTOMER APPROVED.
The shop’s desk: the header reads ED94-9C2F · CUSTOMER APPROVED, nothing is open, and Ready for production reads “ED94-9C2F · CUSTOMER APPROVED · Dana Whitlock” with the date and time. - 0:49–0:53.5 A revised roster arrives. The approval of ED94-9C2F is superseded.
After the demonstration’s revised file is opened: the What changed screen with the notice “Applying … REVISED Thursday night.csv made version 4083-7775. The approval of ED94-9C2F is superseded.” The header reads NOT READY · 3 open. - 0:53.5–0:58.5 Every change is listed: swaps, sizes, spellings, added, removed.
Once the revised file’s 3 questions are answered (in the demonstration, the coach’s answers by phone): version ADE0-9809, and “Since ED94-9C2F: 2 numbers swapped, 2 sizes, 2 spellings, 1 added, 1 removed, 20 unchanged”, with each change’s old value struck through. - 0:58.5–1:02.5 Approved again: ADE0-9809 · CUSTOMER APPROVED.
The desk after the customer approves the new version in its own review file: the header and Ready for production read ADE0-9809 · CUSTOMER APPROVED. - 1:02.5–1:07.5 Purchasing isn’t open yet. The trial copy is free, with no pass.
The Production screen: “NOT OPEN YET. Purchasing isn’t open yet. Everything up to the exports works now and stays free.”, a “Help with a purchase” button, then the Trial copy panel, “FREE · NO PASS NEEDED”, its note that every page, label and CSV row says TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION and that the order pass buys the same files without that band, and the buttons “Make the trial copy”, “Trial packet (PDF)”, “Trial labels (PDF)” and “Trial CSV”. - 1:07.5–1:12.5 The trial packet’s cover: TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION.
The saved trial packet’s cover (page 1 of 12): the black band TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION across the top, the order, version code ADE0-9809, CUSTOMER APPROVED, the line “Verify before production”, and 27 people, 28 garments. - 1:12.5–1:17 Each packing label carries the band and the version code.
The saved trial labels (page 1 of 3): one label per person with name, number, size and quantity, ADE0-9809, CUSTOMER APPROVED and the band TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION on each. - 1:17–1:21.5 The CSV: each row ends with TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION.
The saved trial CSV opened as plain text: the header row and the first rows, each ending with the column TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION. - 1:21.5–1:26.5 End card
An end card: “Try it on an order you’ve already finished.”, the address https://rosterpress.pages.dev/trial, and “Purchasing isn’t open yet.”
The video as files: MP4 (3.1 MB) and WebM (3.4 MB). The six stills of the same order are on the overview page, and the tool has the order itself under "Open the demonstration order".
