SELF-GUIDED TRIAL

FREE

Try it on an order you've already finished

Take one team order you have already produced, run its roster through the tool, and put what comes out beside what you really sent to production. Then tell us, in one short answer, what, if anything, would stop you using these outputs for your next order. A fuller report of six questions is optional.

What it costs
Nothing. There is no account and nothing to install, and nothing in this trial needs a payment.
Where your roster goes
RosterPress does not upload roster contents while you use the tool. It runs in your browser, and an order is kept in this browser and in the files you save.
How long it takes
It is meant to take about a quarter of an hour. No shop has timed it yet; the optional report asks how long it took you.

To look before you use a file of your own: six pictures of the demonstration order are on the overview page, and the tool has the order itself under "Open the demonstration order".

1. What you need

  • A computer, not a phone.
  • One finished team order where the customer sent a spreadsheet: Excel or CSV. A Google Sheet can be downloaded as either. An older Excel workbook (.xls) has to be saved as .xlsx or CSV first. A PDF, a photo or a list pasted into an email won't work: the tool reads spreadsheets.
  • If that spreadsheet has other columns production needs, such as a colour or a style, they can be kept with each line as its "production details". Where you read the file in, the tool asks "Which other columns does production need?" and keeps none you don't tick.
  • Whatever you actually sent to production for that order: your production sheet or work order, the proof you emailed, your bag labels or packing list.
  • If the customer sent a changed roster later, that file too. It is the most useful part.

2. What to do

  1. Note the time. Open the tool and choose "Open a customer's roster".
  2. Read the file in. Pick the sheet and the header row, say which column is the name, the number, the size and the quantity, give the order a title, choose a layout, and confirm.
  3. Answer what it asks, the way those questions were really settled at the time. You know the answers now. It asks whose answer each one is; say what was true.
  4. Look at the proofs. One per person, as the name and number would be set.
  5. If there was a changed roster, choose "The customer sent a revised file" and read what it says changed. Does it match the changes you made by hand that week? The packet carries a page of those changes only when the earlier version had left the screen: to see that page too, make the trial copy once before you open the changed roster, and again after. If a changed row could be either of two people with the same name, it asks which one and removes nobody until you answer; a changed roster that has lost its number or quantity column isn't taken at all (section 8).
  6. Make the trial copy on the Production screen: the packet, the labels and the CSV, each marked TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION. They are free.
  7. Put it beside what you sent to production. Go down both, line by line: every name, number, size and quantity, and the count.
  8. Note the time again, and send your answer below.

3. What to look for

  • A name, number, size or quantity that differs between the tool's copy and yours. Either one could be the mistake.
  • Anything the tool asked about that turned out to matter on that order: a missing size, a shared number, a zero in front of a number.
  • Anything that went wrong on that order that the tool did not ask about.
  • A name it couldn't set, or set too small.
  • Whether the labels would work for the way you bag orders.

4. One question, and an optional report

One short answer is enough: What, if anything, would stop you using these outputs for your next order? Send it with this link: Start an email with that one question in it

If you have a few more minutes, the six questions below make a fuller report. It is optional. Send it with this link: Start an email with the six questions in it. It opens one email in your own mail program, with the six questions already in it. Or copy them from here into an email to rosterpress.help@gmail.com. Short answers are fine.

That address is read for the answers to this trial. It is not a help desk.

Please don't send the roster or any player's name. We don't need them and don't want them.

  1. Your shop. Screen printing, embroidery, heat press or DTF, sublimation, something else? About how many team orders with names or numbers in a month?
  2. Would you have used this packet as it is for that order? Yes, as is. / Yes, after changing: ... / No, because: ...
  3. Did everything match what you produced? Every line matched. / The tool's copy had something wrong: what kind of thing? / Ours back then had something wrong that the tool flagged or would have caught: what kind of thing?
  4. Time. About how long did the paperwork for that order take back then, from the spreadsheet to proofs, a production sheet and labels? A rough guess is fine. And how long did it take today, by the clock?
  5. Your next team order. The packet, labels and CSV without the trial band cost $19 for one order, in US dollars plus any sales tax, including any later changes to it. Would you use it at that price? Yes. / Not at $19, but at: ... / No. If no, what stops you?
  6. Two things we can't know from here. Do you bag and label per person or per garment, and on what label stock? Does your customer usually open a proof on a phone or a computer?

5. What happens to your answers

They are counted and used to decide what to fix or build next. They are never published with your shop's name. A trial report gets no reply. A question about a purchase is answered inside the tool, as the support page says.

6. What the trial copy is

The same packet, labels and CSV you would get for a real order, with TRIAL COPY · NOT FOR PRODUCTION on every page, every label and every row of the CSV, and TRIAL COPY in each file's name. Nothing else on them differs, so you can compare line for line. It is for looking and comparing, not for production.

7. For a real order

Everything up to the exports is free: reading the roster, the questions, the proofs, your customer's review and approval, the list of changes when a roster is revised, and the trial copy.

The exports without the trial band need an order pass: $19 for that order, in US dollars, plus any sales tax, bought on the tool's Production screen. $19 is the first price being tested, and it may change.

NOT OPEN YET Purchasing isn't open yet. The trial needs no purchase.

8. What it doesn't do

It doesn't run a printer or a cutter, make cut or embroidery files, place artwork or take your customers' payments. Nobody sets it up for you or fixes a file for you: it is software only.

It doesn't take a changed roster that has lost the number column or the quantity column the roster before it had. It says so before it applies anything, and the order stays as it was: it won't guess whether your customer meant "one each now" or "no numbers now", or only left the column off. A changed roster that still has the column goes through.
